"I liked The First Shot because I didn't know that much about the Battle
of Lexington, but now I know a lot about the Battle of Lexington. The minutemen were way outnumbered but they kept fighting
and won the battle. So the story was exciting and intense. I would recommend it to a friend because I think they
would like time travel and would like to learn about the Battle of Lexington. I can't wait to read Mr. Harris's
other book." Michael, 10

"Hi my name is Brendan, you signed my book at Borders in Burlington yesterday, remember? I read the
First Shot last night and stayed up all night reading it. It is quite a good book, If I were a judge, I would
give it the Newbury Honor and the Caldicot honor . . . I am excited to read the next one."

"Gabe
really enjoyed the book and exclaimed out loud when it became apparent who fired the first shot! Thanks very much for
writing a great book and introducing him to historical fiction."

".
. . The First Shot . . . provides kids with a fascinating way to contrast the past and the present, discern fact from legend,
and develop a keen sense of how the past informs the future. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed it and couldn't wait
to get back to it every night."
